Born from the meeting of five jugglers and dancers, Le G. Bistaki came together in 2006 to shake up the artistic and theatrical lives of its founding members—by innovating in the way they researched and performed.

The essence of its mode of representation is its relationship to space.

From a conventional theater stage to outdoor settings, rural or industrial environments, unusual locations, and even in the form of walking tours, the Toulouse-based collective develops in situ performances and flourishes in close connection with the spatial and social characteristics of a place. Taking the time necessary to invest in and transform a place, Le G. Bistaki allows the dreamlike dimension of the stage to overflow and opens up the performance space, dressing the landscape with visual installations where objects multiply and vary, and where video and tableaux vivants are embedded.

Defining itself as a Choreographic Investigation Circus, it develops unique creations at the crossroads of theater, juggling, and dance, in which objects, often in large numbers, adorn the space and transform the bodies. Its artistic research tirelessly refines the scenic interactions between Body, Object(s), and Space(s) and the relationship with the audience in fixed or wandering forms.

In 2019, it surrounded itself with new female collaborators for the creation of Bel Horizon.
Tancarville, a project for public spaces scheduled for spring 2024, will be its fourth collective creation.

Dans le cadre de ses activités, Le G. Bistaki est soutenu par Toulouse Métropole et conventionné depuis 2023 par la DRAC Occitanie.

A teacher in various circus schools, he directs circus creations in Italy and France.

Katja Andersen
Circus artist, musician • Bel Horizon

Born in a small Danish town, between swimming in the fjords and walking in the forest, Katja joined the Copenhagen circus school, AFUK, in 2010, where she specialised in tightrope. After three years at the Lido in Toulouse, where she developed a strong stage presence, she created the company Two with Ricardo Gaiser Fernández, and the show “Finding no man’s land”, which won Circus Next in 2016. In 2019, she created the KS company and the show “Idylle”. In the same year she joined Le G. Bistaki for the creation of the show Bel Horizon.

Florencia Demestri
Dancer • Bel Horizon

A multidisciplinary artist from Argentina, Florencia has lived and worked in Brussels since 2003. After studying at ESAC, with a passion for choreography and performance, she naturally turned to dance companies when she left school. She has worked for 15 years with choreographers such as Lisi Estaràs, David Zambrano, Karine Ponties, Groupe Entorse, and recently with Monia Montali and François Bodeux. In 2010, she began her own choreographic research and new collaborations (Claudio Stellato, Piergiorgio Milano, Simon Thierrée…) and created her own company Demestri et Lefeuvre. She will join the Bistakian adventure in 2019 for the creation of Bel Horizon.

Natalia Fandino
Circus artist, dancer • Bel Horizon

Born in Argentina, Natalia began her career as a tango dancer. From 1999 to 2001 she worked with the Argentinean company “Circo volante”, then in Belgium where she settled in 2002 and created the company “Circo Fantasma”. Between 2004 and 2006, at the Lido in Toulouse, she developed her aerial work, her unique style on the fixed trapeze, as well as dance and theatre. She started touring almost immediately with No Fit State Circus until spring 2010. She then joined the company Feria Musica and also Le Cardage, a choreographic circus company. In 2015 she joined the Belgian company Les Argonautes for Entre d’Eux and Bruxelles-Brussel, and joined the Bistakian adventure in 2019 for the creation of Bel Horizon.

Julie Garnier
Circus artist • Bel Horizon

After studying at the Beaux-Arts de Nancy, focusing on circus imagery and the staged body, she trained as a self-taught circus artist. She took her first step on stage and into the profession in 2009 with a solo “Au saut du lit” (balancing and movement) and put both feet in with the adventure under the circus tent of the Ballet Manchot in 2011 (hand to hand acrobatics, banquine and bascule). In 2016, she discovered the street playground with the PeepShow, a fairground entre-sort by the Cie Les Persifleurs. She performs in the show Distraction(s) by Cirque Gones for a reprise of a role where she discovers object manipulation. She completed her stage experience with the Only Stranger Company as a stage technician in 2017. In 2019, she will join the Bistakian adventure for the creation of Bel Horizon.

Guillaume Bautista
Visual artist, video maker

Guillaume Bautista is a video and visual artist. His work revolves around several axes: installation (interactive, video), sculpture and live performance (theatre, dance, circus). For the company G. Bistaki, each performance offers new proposals in situ. Architectural video creation, mapping, video trompe l’oeil or installation become tools for making sense of the universes that we pass through, allowing the spectator to further pursue the magic of the show.

Christophe Carpreau
Light manager and task force

He started in street theatre with the Collectif Organum many years ago. Co-founder of Métalu à Chahuter in Lille, he is involved in several projects: La Baleine, the festival Les 400 Clous, La Chocoteuf, Films à la Rue, the Hirsute collective, parties in Métalu’s premises… He has worked in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region with Le Prato, the Éolie Songe company, the Compagnie des Astres, Les Agitations festival, KlingKlang, Culture Commune, Danse à Lille, Lille 3000, the Maisons Folies, the Gare Saint-Sauveur… A member of the Protos-types collective and technical director of the Phun, he has had a close relationship with the South-West for many years, notably with Le G.Bistaki to whom he saved the day more than once!

Cécile Durot
Production Manager

Discovering the circus late in life – but with the right mentors – with les Maboul Distorsion, she started working as a production manager at the age of 23 and at the same time discovered a passion for the street and setting up circus tents. A Nantes native by adoption, she found an entertainment family and a home with the Quai des Chaps collective, which she has never left. After two years of transition during which she trained as a stage manager and pod pilot, she returned to her first love in production and now accompanies La Piste à Dansoire and Le G. Bistaki since 2019.
